On the guitar a god, failed in life…

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of Jimi Hendrix, ZDF broadcast a report on the life of the guitarist and songwriter under the title quoted above. “Short and intoxicating was the life of Jimi Hendrix. He is regarded as the greatest rock guitarist of the 20th century – and died a small and miserable drug death at the age of 27,” the ZDF contribution said.

It must have felt like a force of nature when you saw Jimi Hendrix live for the first time in the late 1960s. Even Paul McCartney once said in an interview that a shiver runs down his spine when he thinks of the first time he saw Hendrix play in a London club.

You don’t have to light the clarinets like Jimi Hendrix lit his guitar, or trample the trumpets if you want to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the guitarist’s death with your orchestra. Under this link you will find some arrangements for Marching Band.
