The legend tells of the Ice Palace of the Fairy Queen high up on the cloudy summit of Montblanc, which no one had ever seen before, and of the fairy girls dancing on the mountain meadows, who sometimes fell in love with human sons. One of these fairies tried to win over a baron who was a passionate hunter by kidnapping him. But he was able to free himself from captivity and return to his beloved bride. The fairy Geva let him go, but took revenge on his bride by turning her into a marmot and only then would she get her human form again when flowers grow out of the snow...
